As a kid, I had fears. And at this moment, mom captured me in a great state of fearlessness. What do you picture as fearless?
manifesto
I believe in a free world. I believe in the core tenets of democracy. I believe in both equality and individuality. I believe that freedom is guaranteed and that no one should be denied.*
I believe in challenging work. Perhaps not a grueling 50 hours in a cubicle or back-breaking labor in the fields. To me challenging work generates a feeling of contribution, responsibility, and respect. I believe we all benefit when each of us contributes fully in ourselves, and hence, our work – whatever our vocation.
I believe in outrageous play. I believe in playing a life that’s full of joy, light, and fun. Play is at the core of recreation, and I am in a constant state of recreating myself. The kid in me no longer wants to get out – he’s already out there having a blast. The adult in me doesn’t stand on the sidelines – he’s out there playing too.
I believe in living wholly. Yes, I mean wholly. For me, that means that work and play combine to make a complete life. Some people call this balance. This is why I coach. This is how I live.
* I believe in footnotes. I believe that to every rule there are exceptions. I believe that those who violate a free world receive accurate justice.
