On Friday I graduated
On Friday I formally graduated from the Fearless Living Institute. In a quiet and peaceful ceremony, I received the honor of Certified Fearless Living Coach. Among dozens of my peers, mentors, coaches, partners, and cherished friends, the CFLC medal was placed around my neck.
When I began studying Fearless Living, I had no intention of becoming a coach. I simply wanted to get out of the job I was in and move my life forward – if I could do that at all. Four years ago I felt stuck, isolated, diminished, fear-ridden, victimized, stupid, and worthless. Today I still have those feelings. Yet despite my feelings, my actions are based on intentions I create myself. 20 months ago I created an intention to become a Certified Fearless Living Coach. Intention realized! Woo-hoo!
Having achieved an MBA a few years ago, I’m very aware of what it takes to acheive a high degree of education. Let me tell you that the work required to become a CFLC is no less than the work required to achieve a master’s degree. My alma mater, the Fearless Living Institute, is truly my soul mother (the latin translation of alma mater…)
So, now what?
Now, a new path can begin to emerge. Another new intention. Another focus. Another meditation. Another direction. Another choice. Another breath. Another moment. Another moment. Another moment. Now. Now. Now.
Years ago I had a hilarious conversation with my Aunt Lucy that we still joke about. Travelling to see relatives I said, “I can’t wait until we get there… I can’t wait until we get to lunch… I can’t wait until we get home… I can’t wait until school starts again… I can’t wait until the next break… I can’t wait until I’m out of high school…” and I continued until the ultimate, “I can’t wait until I die.”
Today, I’m no longer in a rush to the ultimate end. I’m taking time to enjoy this body, mind, and soul that I’ve been given. I’m taking time to develop a business. I’m enjoying this moment. Right now.
Homework: Take in this moment. This is your moment. You have permission to be the center of your world in this moment.
Truly Yours in love,
Joseph Lyons
PS. Right now happens to be the Kokopelli Lodge in Moab, Utah. I’m sitting at a little table in my quaint aging room. Len has Star Trek: The Next Generation on the TV. My heart is smiling in this moment. Tomorrow I may raft the Colorado, later this week I may be in Vegas – but what of it. Right now, I’m here and loving this now. I can’t wait until now.
