Reset Button

Ok, so I’ve had this idea for a Reset Button and after looking online I don’t see one – not the kind I’m thinking of at least.

I want a real life reset button – a big red hunk of plastic that matches the size of my palm. It would be attached to a piece of steel, be anchored to the earthen bedrock, and it would harness the power of the earth’s gravitational and magetic forces. When things go haywire – as life will do – I will slam my hand down on the button and reset the day.

This dream button of mine allows me to go back on promises that I’ve made and can no longer keep, removes all the food I ate that I wish I hadn’t, and takes away the responsibility for all of my other actions that I wish I hadn’t made.

You’re right – this button doesn’t exist. For years I sought a “key” that would unlock the reasons I made choices, and now I seek a “button” to reset my choices. And there’s a lesson in this – darn it!

The lesson is that there are choices. I make choices all the time – a choice to love, a choice to eat, a choice to work, a choice to breathe, a choice to exercise. I can’t necessarily hit a reset button as I’ve described. What I can do is make another choice.

So, here’s to a day filled with choices! Every single last one of ‘em!

Truly Yours,

Joseph Lyons
