I bring fun and joy to my work.
I work with great people that want my help and who like working together on rewarding projects.
I am Portland. I'm bookish, nerdy, slightly awkward, very friendly, and outdoorsy.
I own an old pickup named after a character in an environmental activist's novel, a thunderegg and petrified wood table made by my mom and great-grandfather, and a burial spot in Locust Grove, Wasco County, Oregon with my great-great-grandparent Burmesters.
I run ultramarathons.
Bridgeport Penthouse - The seller approached me with a unique problem - reintroduce the unit to the market a month after he purchased it. Working with a great photographer, staging company, mortgage broker, and a title company, my unique marketing blend brought together great resources to position the condo perfectly.
"Joe took the lead on listing my Portland condo, setting up the staging and running the open house. Within a couple weeks, Joe not only had a solid purchase offer, but a solid backup offer too. Highly recommend working with Joe!"
Mid Century Modern - This was a beautiful home with in an amazing, unique location. Nearly untouched from its original design and architecture, the potential buyer was going to need to have a passion for the history of Pacific Northwest building. We wanted to highlight the lifestyle in this home with poolside wet bar, bridged entry, expansive decks, and showstopping living room.
Mt Scott Duplex - With two tenants with complicated schedules, coordinating showings was certainly going to be a challenge for any Realtor. Our clients wanted to adjust their investments and wanted expert positioning in the market, including our evaluation of the market to both maintain rents and property values to backup the price. Our clients were able to compete for offers and achieved a fast, successful sale.
Irvington Modern Classic - A large home with large goals. From built-in vacuum and dumbwaiter, to a 4th floor dance hall and extraordinary loft space, this home offered a social opportunity. We hit the market with a splash special showing event for top Portland area Realtors and their spouses, Then, we specially invited neighbors to the open house with mailings and neighborhood walks. Every home needs custom marketing and I do it all.
Elmonica Neighborhood Townhome - What a beaut! This light and airy end unit townhome had grand vistas over the club house, community and across the Tualatin Valley. When the home was no longer the right fit for our client, we went to work on marketing their home heavily while working just as hard to find their new home. An otherwise complicated chain of contingent offers was no problem with the high quality transaction management from Cooper Realty and the team we keep around us.
Joseph Lyons’ passion is supporting people as they make the most important decisions in their life. In 2013 he supported over 30 real estate transactions tallying over $10,000,000 in sales but his focus remained on the people involved. Each of those transactions represent individuals and families who have upgraded, downsized, relocated, or otherwise transitioned a home sale or home purchase with Joe’s support. Joe became a Realtor after strong recommendation from Cooper Realty’s Principal Broker and long-time friend, Ernest Cooper.
Joe was born in rural east Multnomah County on his family’s small 1 acre farm with 25 fruit trees, 5 vegetable gardens, a machine shop, an old barn where his aunt raised a cow named “Bolivar”. His grandma who lived next door made wine from the grapevines behind the house. Influenced by land use laws and changing family values, the old farm was sold and became a subdivision which was named Willard Acres, after grandma and grandpa of course.
Joe’s career has included managing a $5 million law-firm in Lake Oswego, a 450 meal per day meals-on-wheels program, and a historic resource preservation organization. He earned his MBA in 2006 and two years later earned certification as a life coach in Boulder Colorado. After wrangling attorneys, Joe decided to open his own coaching business which helped individuals start their own businesses, land life-changing career opportunities, and figure out ways to achieve the elusive work-life balance.
Joe became a runner a few years ago and has run numerous marathons and other races including his first ultra-marathon from Grand Junction, Colorado to Moab, Utah, in June 2012. He recently fulfilled a lifelong passion and took a stab at stand-up comedy and enjoyed over 100 people laughing at him. He lives in Portland, Oregon with his partner, Len, a graphic designer.
